Me, me, me! 1984 AC 3000ME
Update 27/7: The AC sold for £6,400, a little under our estimate, we must admit. People are probably a bit put off by the blistering on the car.
We have always liked the mid-engined AC 3000. The car was originally designed as the “Diablo” in 1972 and then manufacturer AC bought the production rights. Equipped with a tuned Ford Essex V6 from South Africa, only 106 of these glassfibre cars were finally made.
Chassis 174, for sale here on ebay is a low mileage example with only 36,000 miles on the clock, and a fully documented history. The seller admits there are a few bubbles in the paint work from moisture when it used to be parked outside earlier in its life. These bubbles point to a problem with the undercoat of the cellulose paint. The cars were undercoated, left to dry and then top coated the following day, the bubbles caused by the top coat being applied with dampness in the air from the overnight wait.
With three days to go, the car is at £4,000 and likely to at least double in price.

The chap who sprayed LKX 7L for Peter Bohanna and Robin Stables in Brown was Alan Riglesford who worked at SGT in Taplow at the time (Ex Mike Spence racing).
The Diablo had a Maxi engine initailly. If you want to contact Alan about the car please email me.
