16/1: This car is still for sale. The photos have been updated.
From 26/8/08:
We really like the Alfa GTAm. It has a nice aggressive look. What started in 1965 with the Auto-Delta Giulia GTA, resulted in 1969 with the wider-bodied GTAm. The A standing for “allegerata” or lightweight and the M for “maggiorata” or bigger.

Another homologation special. Lotus’ Colin Chapman was developing his new twincam engine when Ford came knocking on his door. They wanted to use his engine in 1000 Group 2 homologation cars. The famous white car with the green stripe was born (Ford did have some red examples made for their own racing purposes).

1969 saw the launch of the Coupe and Cabriolet versions of the Peugeot 504, launched the year before. They were pretty-looking cars designed by Pininfarina. 8185 cars were produced up until 1983. We have found a collection for sale in Belgium.

Update 20/8: Just as we are writing the finishing touches, the auction is pulled. The car must be sold!
Citroen finally entered Group B rallying in 1986 with a developed BX. It was an absolute disaster as the car proved totally uncontrollable on the track. It participated in 15 events (of which 3 FISA WRC rallies: Monte Carlo, Sweden and the Acropolis) before Citroen pulled the plug and Group B rallying got banned altogether after the death of Henri Toivonen in his Lancia Delta S4 in the Tour de Corse rally.

A special Rolls has come up for sale in SW London: a Rolls Silver Shadow Estate conversion. It is Silver Sand over British Racing Green and comes with a webasto sunroof. The roof extension itself is a dark green. We’re not convinced on the two-tone paint unfortunately and think they might look better in one colour.

States-side, there is a big vintage racing scene. One of the Team Thicko Austin Healey vintage racing team cars seems to have made it across the pond. We have no idea about its racing palmares but it looks ready for some European circuit racing.

Only 502 examples were made of this little two-seater barchetta. And then two show up for sale around the same time. One red one for sale in Italy and one a bit more expensive, two-tone one in Lille, France. These were fiberglass bodies put on a Fiat 600 chassis. Autobianchi were one of the first companies to use full fiberglass bodies. People didn’t like it very much though.

Update 26/8: This car has been re-listed on ebay UK here.
A nice example of a roadgoing rally car has come up for sale in this 1996 “Cossie”. These cars were produced from 1992 to 1996, so it makes this particular car one of the last ones. Just over 7000 of them were made: 2500 more rudimentary rally homologation vehicles and the rest a bit more luxuriously equipped.

How about this estate car? Take a clean-looking two-door estate by Opel, put a set of Borbet wheels under it, a big exhaust and you’re ready to cruise. We like it a lot since it’s very tastefully done.
