Rare: 1968 GLAS 1300 GT
In 1964, GLAS, the company that gave us the Goggomobil introduced the 1300GT coupe. The body was designed by Pietro Frua. However competition, mostly from British cars, was tough and in 1966 they released the 2600GT powered by a SOHC V8 engine.
Glas couldn’t fix its financial troubles and was taken over by BMW. The Glas models were kept in production by BMW, but fitted with BMW engines. The Glas 1300 GT coupe was fitted with a 1.6 litre BMW engine and renamed BMW 1600 GT.
This particular example has been restored only three years ago. It is a bit of an odd colour but suits the car pretty good. The car is very stock and even the skai leather interior look very original. The period radio looks great. There are quite a few dials on that dashboard. A few switches seem to have been added to turn on the rear foglight, which is compulsory in Belgium.
The 4-cylinder engine delivers 75bhp and should be good for 170km/h. It is linked to a 4-speed box (System Porsche). The backend looks splendid with the stylish exhaust tips. The only thing is, as mentioned above, the foglight, which we could be tempted to move below the bumper, maybe in the middle or on the other side symmetric with the exhaust.
The car is for sale out of Nivelles in Belgium and is advertised here on Anciennes.net for €10750 but is negotiable. Top end price maybe for this kind of car but it is a very recent restoration after all.

ist der Wagen noch zu kaufen?
