Stylish: 1961 Mini Cooper works replica
Update 16/9: The Mini didn’t make it’s reserve at £2550 and has now been relisted with a £3000 starting price. The BiN of £5500 has also been reduced to £4250. We’ll see if it sells this time. Links updated.
We don’t need to tell you how popular the new Mini is. You can’t turn your head in the street these days or two at least have gone past you. But you’d nearly forget how great the old Mini looks, especially with some rally gear on.
For sale on ebay UK is a Cooper works replica for sale and it looks very nice. It has a BiN price of £5500 that could be a little on the high side. The car is a 1961 car that has loads of period parts added to it like works lightbar with period spots, Victoria roofrack, period rollbar, Monte Carlo wheels, etc. It also has nice added touches such as the Rally Monte Carlo decal on bonnet and rear end.
The interior also has a nice set of period bucket seats. The dash is pretty stock and we would love to see some period chronometers installed. The engine is a standard 850cc which we would probably swap for a 1275cc unit that has been tweaked a little.
The roofrack is a brilliant addition but could do with a spare tyre and maybe even a jerrycan. We like it a lot and would buy one of these old Minis over the new ones any time.
