Unseen: 1965 Moretti 1500SS
Moretti is an Italian car manufacturer that got a name for itself making small, commercial and electrical vehicles in the 1920s to 1940s. In the 50s, to reduce costs, it started designing bodies on the basis of a Fiat chassis.
Even though Moretti managed to produce a whole range of little cars, it never managed to compete properly against the Fiat 600. It was only thanks to Giovanni Moretti’s friendship with Gianni Agnelli, the Fiat boss, that Moretti managed to “stretch it” into the 80s. At the end it was just producing personalised versions of popular Fiat models like the Panda and Uno.
ClassicCarHunter found this particular car on ebay in Spain and we have never seen a similar one before. Nor could we find one on Google. It is a Moretti 1500SS. It is very pretty in our opinion, much more so than the rear-engined 850 Sportiva, that comes up for sale pretty regular.
It features a rear very similar to its bigger brother/sister the 2300SS with similar though smaller round tail lights and we also like the sloped headlights at the front. The wire wheels look out of place and would be the first thing we would change although they probably came as standard with the car.
The engine bay is pretty tidy as is the interior. We would get rid of the cheap foot mats and go for full black ones. It is for sale out of Seville, in Spain and rather than a real auction is advertised as a classified for EUR18000.

Indeed a Moretti 1500SS. according to the Fornai book though it was made 1965..
