Rare: 1985 Porsche 911 Gemballa (959 look)
Update 3/3: The Porsche didn’t meet reserve at EUR27050.
From 26/2:
The Porsche 911 has been around for a long time. It is without doubt one of the most iconic sports cars ever. It has developed quite a bit over the years since its inception in the 1960s. In the 1980s that development culminated (for a while) in the Porsche 959. One of the fastest and most exclusive Porsches ever made.
Only 200 cars were ever made, and while loads of people were disappointed they didn’t manage to get on the waiting list, even when you had secured your order, it was another 2 years before cars were being delivered. We guess this is where a company like Gemballa saw a gap in the market. Porsche showed a prototype of the 959 at the 1983 Frankfurt motorshow. This is a 1985 car for sale. Based on a 1984 Carrera. But the real 959s weren’t delivered until 1987 …
Gemballa (and other companies like RUF, Rinspeed, TechArt, etc.) tune Porsche engines and add some “bling” to the bodywork. The real 959 specification of course differs a bit compared to this Gemballa Porsche for sale in France. The real 959 was a twin-turboed 2.85 litre delivering 400bhp, while this Gemballa has a 3.6 litre pumping out 275bhp. Of course the 959 was 4-wheel drive, while we somehow doubt this one is.
Nonetheless, these Gemballa cars went for loads of money in their day (and still do). ClassicCarHunter noticed it for sale for EUR30000 before it was put on ebay France. Bids are currently over EUR20k. The way the car looks from the pictures, it’s still in great shape! Get bidding …

Do you know if the car is still for sale and any contact details please? Thanks! Leigh (UK)
