Back in August we wrote about a special rallycar coming up for sale. It was the car on the left, a Citroen BX 4TC Evo. Well, surprise surprise, now the car on the right has also made its way onto Ebay. And the offers being made are probably still a bit off the reserve.

It is in hindsight quite remarkable that this car was fitted with a 1400cc engine. It was after all a direct competitor to the mighty Range Rover. Saloon comfort but capable of conquering rough ground, you could say the Talbot Rancho became very popular as one of the first SUV/MPVs and at quite a discount to the Range Rover actually. Less than half the money.

Matra is a French car manufacturer that found its origin in aeronautic research. They applied their research and especially their aerodynamics knowledge onto motorsports. Matra Sports started with the purchase of René-Bonnet, and its first production model was a continuation of the René-Bonnet Djet line.

1969 saw the launch of the Coupe and Cabriolet versions of the Peugeot 504, launched the year before. They were pretty-looking cars designed by Pininfarina. 8185 cars were produced up until 1983. We have found a collection for sale in Belgium.

Update 20/8: Just as we are writing the finishing touches, the auction is pulled. The car must be sold!
Citroen finally entered Group B rallying in 1986 with a developed BX. It was an absolute disaster as the car proved totally uncontrollable on the track. It participated in 15 events (of which 3 FISA WRC rallies: Monte Carlo, Sweden and the Acropolis) before Citroen pulled the plug and Group B rallying got banned altogether after the death of Henri Toivonen in his Lancia Delta S4 in the Tour de Corse rally.

Update 11/8: The seller has removed the ad. We hope he changed his mind about selling his R5.
Another homologation series has come up for sale, this time a Renault 5 Turbo. Only 1500 cars were ever produced of the first series and this is car #1059. It has been laid up for a while and will need a bit of work. It looks nice and a bit understated in black.

Here is a super rare car for sale in Montauban, in the South of France. It was brought out for one year only, in 1956, and I haven’t been able to find any other pictures of this lovely coupé online.
